Ja Morant has emerged as one of the best players in the league recently. It is shocking to find out that he found himself in hot water at the time of his developments on the court. For those who don’t know, the Memphis Grizzlies star allegedly punched a teenager in July 2021 in Tennessee. He was then under investigation and it looks like the case has made some important developments right now.
According to TMZ, a 17-year-old boy played basketball with Ja at his home. This then led to a verbal argument between the two. He threw a basketball at the Grizzlies guard and hit his face. The teenager claims it to be an “accident.”
Did Ja Morant get sued for punching a 17-year-old?
Reports claim that Ja punched the teenager in the face after asking another individual if he should do it. He then allegedly continued hitting him even after knocking the young man out.
The teenager has chosen to sue Ja Morant and Davonte Pack, who are the defendants in this case. Ja was not arrested by the police after he claimed that he only acted with self-defense in his mind. Although the plaintiff did not come clean with this, Ja reportedly mentioned that the youngster was threatening to light up the NBA star’s house. Ultimately, this was what led Morant to lose his cool.

Ja has not commented on the incident until now and it looks unlikely that he will as well. The main reason for that would be that the case is still ongoing and it would not be ideal for Morant to make a public statement at this time.
With that said, Ja has been a player to lose it on the court at times as well. It may sound likely that he went through the same emotion on that day as well. However, he has admitted to the police that he did punch the young man, but only to protect himself from harm.
The NBA world awaits the outcome of this case where one of the top players is involved. He has a bright career ahead of him and we can only hope that he faces his off-the-court issues in the best way.
