Andrew Tate has just been released from prison alongside his brother Tristan. The Romanian Court of Appeals has ruled that the Tate brothers be placed on house arrest until further notice. This has shocked his fanbase but many are delighted that the Top G has been finally released after more than three months in a Romanian prison.

Andrew’s past comments have always found their way on the internet and they always resurface anytime the former boxer is trending. This has been the case right now as well. His comments from 2022 on WNBA star Brittney Griner’s release have been surprising, to say the least.
For some context, Russian officials detained Brittney in the country when she was caught with vape cartridges containing marijuana. This brought her under the spotlight as many claimed that she was wrongfully detained. She spent 10 months in a Russian prison, but the US government helped secure her release later. Viktor Bout was exchanged for Brittney in December 2022.
Recently, there were reports that the US government helped Andrew Tate as well, which made fans see some resemblance between the two controversies. But Tate’s comments have been circulating on the internet, as he slammed Griner’s release.
What did Andrew Tate say about Brittney Griner’s release?
Andrew had a say on the matter when he featured on the ‘Entrepreneurs in Cars‘ channel. Andrew said, “here’s an American marine who has been accused of spying, Paul Whelan, who is in a Russian jail right now. They swapped the Lord of War for a basketball player and left this spy to rot. If you’re a straight white man, they will leave you to die.”
Tate was baffled by the United States government’s decision to swap Brittney for Viktor Bout. He believed that she was “Strategically unimportant” for the country to prioritize her release before a former marine.
Just like the Top G, there were Americans who protested for Paul Whelan’s release as well. For those who don’t know, Whelan is an ex-US marine who is still detained in Russia. However, Brittney’s wife, Cherelle, who is a lawyer, has vowed to help Whelan return safely. Brittney’s WNBA return could be on the cards soon after she signed a new contract with the Phoenix Mercury.
As for Andrew Tate, he will not be allowed to leave his place of residence without the consent of Romanian authorities. This will continue to be the case until the ongoing investigation comes to an end.
