Unfortunately for Jamirah, what she did after the game caught the headlines. As the players from both teams were walking in the handshake line, Jamirah came across Elissa Brett from the Falcons team.

After Jamirah sucker-punched Elissa Brett, the latter was hurt and fell to the ground. As per reports from TMZ Sports, Brett has a swollen eye but seems to be recovering well from the injury. “The Bowling Green State University Police Department has charged a member of the Memphis Women’s Basketball with assault. Violence is never acceptable and our priority remains the health, safety and support of our student-athlete, who is recovering and doing well. This is an active investigation in conjunction with the City of Bowling Green Prosecutor and no further comment is available at this time,” the statement mentioned.
After the news, many wondered if Jamirah was arrested. However, the truth is that she has not been detained as of 25 March. As the statement from Bowling Green suggests, investigation is still ongoing.

They said, “Because the incident occurred after the game, jurisdiction falls in the hands of local authorities, and we are cooperating fully with their process. To be respectful of that process, we will not comment further until it is complete.”
