SUMMARY
- GSW rookie Brandin Podziemski wants to continue the legacy of Stephen Curry.
- Fans recall that Jordan Poole was expected to do the same thing.
Brandin Podziekmski generated a fair amount of attention towards himself by claiming that he would continue the legacy of Steph Curry. As the majority of NBA fans should be aware by now, Curry is a 4x NBA champion and is considered the greatest shooter in the history of the league.
Although the Golden State Warriors appear to be struggling at this point in the 2023-2024 NBA season, there is no denying that Curry revolutionized the team and is the heart and soul of the Warriors. His impact on the court can be considered in a league of its own. Be that as it may, Brandin displayed enough confidence in himself to state that he will be able to succeed Steph after his career in the league comes to an end.
Brandin Podziemski believes he will be the successor of Steph Curry
Fans who follow Steph on social media will be aware that “Look at Curry man so inspirational,” is a popular phrase used by his GSW fanbase and critics alike. Over the years, Steph has turned into an inspirational personality and has always earned high praise from other NBA stars.
Podziemski is just a rookie on the Warriors. But he too has felt inspired enough by Curry to claim that he would be able to step up to the occasion and fill Curry’s shoes at a point when Steph is no longer in the league. While some might consider that an arrogant statement to make, Brandin spoke from the perspective of a student looking to step into the role of his teacher one day.

“When he retires, in how many years that may be, I feel like it’s my job to fulfill what he’s doing…To see how he treats people — he’s never too good for anybody. He always wants to be treated just like everybody else. You know, for some stars, that may be different. They want a different reality of life. But Steph’s one of those guys who doesn’t care. He just wants to be like everybody else…”
Although it is certainly heartwarming to hear the impact and influence that Steph has on the young GSW star, fans remembered that another player had said something very similar a few years ago.
Warriors fans recall Jordan Poole wanting to take the mantle from Curry
Up until the start of this season, Jordan Poole was on the Golden State Warriors and nicknamed by many as the third splash brother. His shooting and playmaking abilities arguably made him the second scoring option on the team and he was heralded by many to take over the team from Steph one day.

Should’ve been him 💔 pic.twitter.com/SwA0mgjRDl

Things clearly did not go according to the plans Warriors fans had for Poole. His behavior and interaction with Draymond Green urged the team to trade him away and effectively kill the hopes the franchise had of him taking the mantle from Curry. While Brandin is clearly not expected to make the same mistakes Poole did, fans shouldn’t get their hopes up at this point in time.
