NBA fans believe that Steve Kerr should be replaced as the head coach for Team USA. As many fans might be aware, Kerr was selected to coach the national team due to his excellent resume as the head coach of the Golden State Warriors. With the most recent loss that Team USA suffered against Lithuania, fans believe that it is time to change up the coaching style.
Although it wouldn’t be fair to blame Kerr for Team USA losing, fans are holding him accountable for this unexpected loss and believe that another coach for Team USA can do the job better. With that being said, let us take a closer look at the situation and find out what fans have to say.
Will Erik Spoelstra replace Steve Kerr as the head coach for Team USA?
Fans who were able to watch the game between Team USA and Lithuania will know that their team ended up losing by 6 points to Lithuania. With the exception of Anthony Edwards, most players on Team USA looked sluggish to start the game and didn’t seem to have a good rhythm.
Team Lithuania took full advantage of the situation and outscored Team USA 31-12 in the first quarter They managed to keep up in the second quarter and scored only 2 points less than Team USA, 23-25. Led by Edwards, Team USA tried to rally back in the third quarter and outscored Lithuania 28-17.
However, both teams scored the same amount of points(39) in the final quarter. Due to the huge lead that Lithuania built up in the first quarter, they were able to hold off Team USA until the very end with a final score of 104-110.
Since the starting lineup decided by Steve Kerr was beaten down badly, many fans believe that the head coach position for Team USA should go to someone else like Erik Spoelstra. This is very possible considering that both Coach Spo and Tyron Lue are part of the coaching team led by Steve Kerr, “Team USA lost to Lithuania, I think we can all agree it’s time for Steve Kerr to step down and let a real coach take over.”

In any case, this loss does not disqualify Team USA from contention in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Hopefully, Steve Kerr will handle the situation better next time and prevent his team from falling behind from the beginning. The only way to do so would be to make adequate substitutions and timeouts based on the situation.
