While Jimmy Butler also has other reasons to stay on the news, his recent social media moment was newsworthy too. It almost feels like Jimmy hasn’t moved on since his teammates Gabe Vincent and Max Strus have been traded to other teams. Recently, Max Strus, Jimmy’s old buddy, hosted a training camp for a local community, and he did an excellent job of giving back to the young star. The Cavs guard then shared it on Instagram, along with photos from his offseason.
There were several comments on the post expressing gratitude for what he had achieved. One statement, though, stood out like a sore thumb. Jimmy Butler, his Heat running buddy, was the one who made the statement. “All that fun just to lose to us,” the Heat star wrote under the post. “Miss you too, buddy,” replied Strus to Butler.

The Miami Heat cannot be pleased with how the NBA free agency unfolded for them. This came after they witnessed Vincent and Strus go out the door and away to greater pastures. Vincent has agreed to a three-year, $33 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers. Strus has agreed to a four-year, $64 million agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Who can replace Gabe Vincent on the Miami Heat roster?
Gabe Vincent, who went undrafted in 2019, has spent most of his career as a backup with the Miami Heat. He was catapulted into the limelight, though, during the playoffs. That was when he replaced the injured Tyler Herro as Miami’s starting point guard. Last season, he scored 12.7 points per game and hit a lot of critical baskets to help the Heat reach the NBA Finals. He’s now on his way to the Lakers on a higher contract.
Even after losing postseason starters Gabe Vincent and Max Strus in free agency, not everyone in the NBA is ready to write the Heat off. “Don’t overlook Miami,” urged New York coach Tom Thibodeau on Monday. But now that they’re gone, Miami is looking towards Tyler Herro to fill the void.
Herro has averaged 20 points in each of the previous two seasons, is averaging 17.7 points per game for his career, his assist totals have risen year after year, and he connected on 93% of his free throws a year ago. His game has a lot to offer. Herro, a former Sixth Man of the Year who had plenty of critical moments in his first four seasons with the Heat, is ready to start cashing in on a deal for $120 million over the next four seasons.
But he’s also been mentioned in trade speculations, once when Miami was said to be interested in getting Kevin Durant. And the other one was again when Lillard stated his desire to play for the Heat. Looking at the bigger picture, it is about time Jimmy Butler got over what happened in free agency and focused on the new season with the roster in hand.
