The Brooklyn Nets finally let go of Kyrie Irving after months of trade rumors. The superstar requested a trade to leave New York recently and once again caught the NBA world off guard.
Just days later, the Nets agreed on a deal with the Dallas Mavericks for a trade. Kyrie and Markieff Morris moved to Texas and the Nets received Dorian Finney-Smith and welcomed Spencer Dinwiddie back as well. Kyrie will now play alongside the young prodigy Luka Doncic who has been having a sensational season of his own as well. Mavs fans will be full of excitement knowing that Kyrie and Luka will make a good duo to help the franchise move forward.

Amid all this, Kevin Durant‘s name has been mentioned often as well. For those who don’t know, KD requested a trade to leave the Nets in 2022. However, the franchise could not agree on a deal with a team. This time around, it looks like there are possibilities for that.
Will Kevin Durant leave the Brooklyn Nets before the trade deadline?
Kyrie and KD were a good duo, but they only managed to play 74 games across three years. The main reason for that would be injuries and the controversies that both of these players have been involved in over time. The Nets have not been able to perform as well as they would have liked, especially when they had James Harden along with Kyrie and Durant as well. That was a big three that surely did not live up to its potential in the end for various reasons.

With that said, KD’s exit from the Nets looks like a real possibility after Irving’s trade to the Mavs. He has been reported to be surprised by the fact that Kyrie requested a trade. It is a possibility that he may want to leave as well. Sources claim that Durant has been in talks with the Nets board to determine the vision of the franchise. Whatever the case, the Nets have made it clear that they would not trade him before the February 9 trade deadline.
The Phoenix Suns might be one of the teams interested if Durant decides to leave in the summer. However, the NBA seems to be full of surprises nowadays, with Kyrie’s trade being a prime example. Only time will tell how Durant’s career will turn out in the end.
