Jordan Walsh is among the emerging players in the NBA. He was selected by the Sacramento Kings in 2023 and was subsequently traded to the Boston Celtics. Just after making four appearances, he was reassigned to the Maine Celtics of the NBA G League. Walsh’s recent performance has garnered significant attention due to his mid-game timeout celebration.
In a winning game against the Long Island Nets, Walsh pulled out Al Horford’s iconic time-out signal as the Celtics took a double-digit lead. Notably, during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals last year, Horford hit a three-pointer and to celebrate this, he made a time-out signal with his hands while touching his knees. Thereby, signifying that the Heat required a timeout to stop the Celtics’ momentum.
Jordan Walsh on his mid-game timeout celebration:
“I just kind of was like, alright is it going to be time? He needs it, he needs it. Because we just went on a run, I think DJ hit two back-to-back threes, and I was like ‘they’re cooked. They’re cooked. They need a timeout.’” https://t.co/vympJeGbtx pic.twitter.com/8CN3rdraEr

Furthermore, the Celtics‘ Walsh spoke about the mid-game timeout celebration in the postgame interview. “I just kind of was like, alright is it going to be time? He needs it, he needs it,” he stated. Walsh went on to talk about how the team just went on a run and when DJ hit two back-to-back threes, Walsh thought to himself “They’re cooked. They’re cooked. They need a timeout,” and proceeded to pull out the Celtics veteran Horford’s time-out signal.
Jordan Walsh looks up to AI Horford
Jordan Walsh pulling out AI Horford’s way of celebration doesn’t come as a surprise as he has looked up to him from the start of his journey. In one of the interviews, he was asked who is his go-to guy from the Boston Celtics and he responded, “For sure, Al. I was talking to him before draft night. I was texting with him, talking about, ‘You know, I think I’m gonna be a Celtic I’m excited to come work out with you.’”
Furthermore, he reflected upon having Horford who has been in the league for so long and is still at the top of the game give him advice is great. The two have bonded over time despite their near-20-year age difference and talking about the same, Walsh said, “We were talking about when he was going to college; I wasn’t born yet. And I was like, ‘Now we’re teammates.” In addition, he spoke about how Horford has been a mentor on and off the court.
