Recently a couple of reports regarding free agent Joshua Primo have surfaced. The guard hasn’t had the best start to his career on the court nor has his reputation been in tact. For context, after appearing for only four games during his second stint with the San Antonio Spurs, he was waived from his contract. Initially, the Spurs claimed that Primo was released as he sought help for his mental health issues and trauma.
But his secrets weren’t kept inside a bottle for too long and they eventually reached a surface. A woman named Hillary Cauthen had come forth accusing Joshua Primo of behaving indecently. Cauthen happens to be the sports psychologist of the Spurs, someone Primo consulted during his tenure with the team. She added that he exposed himself to her nine times starting in December 2021.
Primo had also exposed himself to other women staffers on multiple occasions. According to Bleacher Report, Gregg Popovich was aware of these complaints against the 20-year-old. She ended up filing a civil lawsuit against the NBA player stating that though the instances were addressed to Brian Wright (Spurs General Manager), nothing was done and no action was taken against him.
Joshua Primo set to face four-game suspension after denying Hillary Cauthen’s allegations
After the accusations came to light and the lawsuit was placed, Joshua Primo decided to hire a lawyer. William J. Briggs II, the attorney stated that Dr. Cauthen’s accusations were completely fabricated and racially charged. He also revealed that Primo had been seeking her help to overcome trauma inflicted on him during his childhood. Briggs also added that Dr. Cauthen is much older than Primo and could’ve simply informed him that he was accidentally exposing himself through his workout shorts.

The attorney made a huge claim by calling Cauthen’s story an “utter fantasy” in his statement. Primo was allegedly unaware that his privates were visible through his shorts and never intentionally exposed himself to anyone. Briggs claimed it was baffling how Cauthen did not bother to tell Primo that his privates were exposed unintentionally. His statement concluded by saying that the athlete was seeking help from the trauma inflicted by Cauthen and his past.
Briggs added that Joshua Primo will be looking forward to clearing his name and moving forward in his NBA career. The case was filed shortly after Primo was waived in October 2022. However, the lawsuit came to an end not too long after. The NBA investigated the issue and decided that Primo would serve a four-game suspension after signing with any team. The league suspended him over “conduct detrimental” according to multiple sources.
