The 2-time New York Times best-selling cookbook author, Ayesha Curry‘s professional career has seen a lot of popularity. The television personality is quite known in the culinary world from her television series to YouTube channels. Ayesha’s cooking reference or experience, however, goes back to her childhood.
During an episode of Who’s in the Bathroom? alongside Hailey Bieber, the two were discussing cooking-related topics when Ayesha was asked about her learning experience. In reply, she mentions her mother. “My mom’s gonna kill me because I, the correct answer would be like my mom taught me how to cook, but I watched like food network and all the cooking shows growing up like religiously. My parents were so kind to like let me get in the kitchen and make mistakes and messes and so really just like trial and error.” – she mentioned.
Born to parents John and Carol Alexander, Ayesha started to learn cooking initially from her mother. Without any professional training or experience, she started well making her first-ever meal on a blog. She also started her YouTube channel thereafter.

Starting her career in acting at the age of 12, Ayesha Curry’s interest in cooking then started. At the age of 23, she launched her first-ever culinary blog named ‘Little Lights of Mine‘ in 2014. The company later started selling its chain of extra virgin olive oils too. Following this, she started her cooking show, “Ayesha’s Home Kitchen“, on Food Network for two seasons.
In 2016, Ayesha, in collaboration with an award-winning Chef Michael Mina, opened a restaurant named ‘International Smoke‘ in the Bay Area, inspired by their global travels and international cooking. Three years later, the restaurant got opened in another location in Carmel Valley. Following this, in 2017, Ayesha Curry then opened up a delivery service for meal kits in Oakland, which was later turned into a pop-up retail store in 2019.

Adding another one to her list is the TV series, ‘Fempire‘, launched in partnership with Ellen Digital Network and Lorissa’s Kitchen. The host of the show, Ayesha Curry, takes the stage to assist and provide ideas to female entrepreneurs to take their businesses to the next level. Later, in 2020, she then launched ‘Sweet July‘, a lifestyle magazine for black women that aims to empower positive and inspiring stories relating to family, their faith, and food. The same year she also launched Sweet July Productions, a television and film production company.
