Kevin Durant might have a fresh case of forgetting recent bad memories. He has been engaging with critics on Twitter regarding his play this NBA postseason and his team’s embarrassing first-round exit at the hands of the Boston Celtics. This is the result of having built a complete, near impenetrable ego due to achievements of the past.
The NBA superstar has always had a social media reputation. He seems to enjoy interacting with the fans as normal people as opposed to hiding behind a veil of superstardom. However, this has led to him engaging in pointless arguments and debates.
It is somewhat hilarious to notice the defenses NBA superstars have inbuilt in their psyche. This is usually to protect one’s self-esteem and image in the eyes of the masses. It is no doubt embarrassing to be swept 4-0 in the first round of an NBA postseason. Even with James Harden leaving, this should have still been a competitive series.
Kevin Durant thinks the Boston Celtics series was a Karmic balance
The Slim Reaper struggled offensively. He was seemingly rattled by the rough Celtics defense. As the critic on Twitter pointed out, KD made 22 of 83 shots in the series. Additionally, he made only 7 of 21 three-pointers and had 21 turnovers in the 4 games they faced each other.
You shot 22-83, 7-21 from 3 and had 21 turnovers in a sweep. You for sure struggled in that series vs Boston. They had your number that series. Ain’t no way around it. I mean the confidence is admirable…you should feel that way. But them boys packed you out.

Durant has been in this league for 14 years now. it is okay for him to have a bad series. However, his response to this criticism is somewhat startling, “Eye still didn’t think I struggle with anything as a basketball player lol I got packed and done the packing, it evens out to me.”

KD’s logic is amusing. The achievements of the past seem to make up for the failures in the present. However, by that logic, a player like Giannis can remember he did the packing back in 2021 and remind people that it all “evens out” for the rest of his career.
The fact remains that someone has always sent The Slim Reaper packing for 12 out of his 14 years in the league. He seems to have forgotten this in an attempt to justify a very recent embarrassing loss. It is important to also understand that KD doesn’t need to go to the ends of the earth justifying his loss to that Celtics team.
The very same team is now in the NBA Finals and is 2 games away from the championship. Therefore, it was not like The Nets lost to a team with a sole superstar fortunate enough to make the playoffs.
