Kevin Durant has been active on social media this NBA offseason. After all, he has had a lot more free time in comparison to the other stars in the league. KD and the Brooklyn Nets were eliminated in 4 games by the Boston Celtics. However, this is his third year outside Golden State and he is yet to perform at a championship level.

Social media in this generation can be considered cruel or ruthless. Therefore, the 2X NBA champion received much criticism for his play vs the Celtics on Twitter. Comparisons were drawn to LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and the other superstars in the league. This forced him to lash out and respond and the many critics.

I love how the defense I keep seeing here for KD is “they were sending doubles at him” like that’s not a knock on KD’s playmaking. Go ahead and keep sending doubles at Bron, Giannis, Steph, Jokic etc and see what the fuck happens

Kevin Durant mocks the twisted media-created notion of a leader

One must never be quick to judge other people. An NBA athlete is a grown man who is capable of believing he has all the potential in the world. However, the media concocts narratives about these players and highlights their flaws and weaknesses. It is no fresh news to state that KD has been criticized for his inability to win in the past or the present with the exception of his stay in Golden State.

To make matters worse, he has been unable to lead his team out of the Eastern Conference. Therefore, he has yet to prove his “capability to lead” in the world of basketball. It was not that shocking to see him respond to a fresh wave of criticism.

The Twitter critic focused on how Durant’s fans and supporters kept using the narrative that he was being double-teamed by the opposition. However, this would lead to a disaster if the player was Lebron, Steph, Jokic, or Giannis.

Durant wasted no time responding sarcastically to this criticism, “There are a lot of buzz words in basketball that confuse me like leadership and Playmaking. Can I get a definition please??“. He clearly believes these critics are in over their heads. However, this may not be the case in this scenario.

It’s a lot of buzz words in basketball that confuse me, like leadership and Playmaking. Can I get a definition please?? https://t.co/sxk5y3gfq4

The Slim Reaper was unable to carry his team past the Boston Celtics. Therefore, he does deserve some amount of criticism for his play. However, the critic seemed to think other superstars have a deadly answer to any double team. This is simply not true as an elite double team has stopped the best players in NBA history.
