The NBA truly has some die-hard fans. Klay Thompson, Stephen Curry, and other stars are usually the recipients of unwanted attention from fans. A look-alike Youtuber decided to sneak into Game 5 of the NBA Finals impersonating Klay and attempted to potentially make a huge deal and create attention for himself and quite evidently, his YouTube channel.
Banned bc I walked pass 5 layers of security guards (who willingly let me through security without asking for ID) & shot around on the court for 10 minutes. I also spent 10K on tickets which they are not refunding. Why should I be banned because their security is incompetent?

This impersonator named Dawson Gurley has received a stinging punishment from the authorities of the Golden State Warriors franchise. This incident makes one question whether even impersonation, which is considered the most sincere form of flattery must be punished to this extent.
It is not a crime to be a passionate fan of the NBA. However, Dawson’s actions clearly go well past that. He claims to have gotten into the arena during Game 5. Additionally, he boldly claimed to have shot on the court with the other NBA players.
The fake Klay Thompson will never set foot in a Warriors match again
The Chase center is the new arena for the Golden State Warriors. Following Gurley’s actions, they have banned him for life from entering the Warriors stadium. However, it is shocking that he even made it this far.
Even if he looks identical, there should be no way his warmup\shot should be anything similar to the Splash Bro. The Fake Klay Thompson explained that he never even claimed to actually be the NBA star. He was simply able to talk his way through security.

It is interesting to note that the “other side” of fans agitates the NBA players just as much. This NBA postseason had several negative interactions between the home-crowd fans and the opposition team’s players and even their families. There has been ugly verbal and even physical abuse in some cases.

Chris Paul’s mother was harassed by a fan in the series between the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns. Draymond Green was called a b**ch and a m***er****er in front of his wife and child during his bad play in the NBA Finals
One would think that these are the only types of acts that NBA fans engage in. However, the Fake Klay Thompson and obsessive\disruptive fans should also be treated cautiously. There have been several cases of fans running into the open court just to make a scene. They are usually dealt swiftly, by security.
What are your thoughts on the entire incident?
