Shaquille O’Neal is a name still well known in the City of Los Angeles and with the LA Lakers. He is arguably one of the best centers to ever play for the team. The Diesel has a son named Shareef O’Neal. The Lakers are reportedly interested in signing this potential talent at some point in the future
Shareef has played for UCLA and Lousiana State University. He is listed at 6’8 and is 22 years old. Jeanie Buss and the Lakers definitely plan to utilize LeBron James to the fullest. However, there is a future after the king and any responsible organization will plan toward it.

Shaquille O’Neal is a lucky father
Shaq must be both thankful and amazed at how far his son has come in the past few years. Shareef was diagnosed with an “anomalous coronary artery“. This is a case where the heart possessed a unique abnormality of squeezing if made to beat faster than usual. Therefore, he underwent serious and potentially life-threatening surgery in December of 2018.
The young man has come a far way since then. This is not something that is easy to do at all. Basketball is an extremely aggressive and physical sport. There aren’t too many things that get the heart rate beating as fast in comparison to the game. Shareef had a full recovery and is trying it back to the top.
The Lakers have noticed this and reportedly have made arrangements to have a workout with him. Additionally, they are doing so prior to the NBA draft. This seems to be the right call. The franchise has made many bad business decisions in the past few months. Therefore, they should tread carefully.
Jeanie Buss and staff signed aged NBA veterans and Russel Westbrook at the beginning of this season after getting eliminated in the first round by the Phoenix Suns. It is amusing that they thought this would be sufficient.
Hopefully, O’Neal is in good shape and not a liability on the court due to his past medical history. The Lakers must have had this workout in order to determine the same. If he is fine, perfectly healthy and even a shade of what his father was, the Lakers will be quick to sign him.
