The Los Angeles Lakers vs San Antonio Spurs game did not disappoint. LeBron James was only probable to play according to the injury report but it looks like he pulled through at the end. He did his thing as usual on the night after putting up 39 points on the board. However, that wasn’t what caught the attention of the NBA world. Russell Westbrook got into an ugly interaction with one of the Spurs players on the night.

In the 3rd quarter, the Lakers were up by 7 points. Russ went for a layup when Zach Collins blocked him. However, the former managed to grab the rebound after that and decided to go for a fake. This was when Collins tried to block again, and when he came back down, he caught Westbrook’s forehead with an elbow.
What happened to Russell Westbrook?
The elbow to his forehead seemed to have upset Russ, which prompted him to go after Collins. As he decided to go head-to-head with the Spurs player, his forehead split open quickly, spewing blood. That did not stop him as Russ had to be held back by LeBron James and other Lakers players.

The referees decided that Collins should be ejected for a flagrant 2 foul on Russ. A flagrant 2 foul is when any player commits an excessive and unsportsmanlike foul on his opponent. On the other hand, Westbrook was hit with a technical foul, for the fact that he decided to go after Collins.

On the night, Russ made 11 points, together with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Reporters asked him about the interaction with Zach Collins after the game. During the post-game interview, Russ spoke about his technical foul. He said, “I was confused on that one myself…Maybe cause I probably hopped up or something, not sure.”
The Lakers have won 5 of their last 6 games now. LeBron has only played 2 of them and it seems like the California-based franchise has built on the momentum as time passes. But will they be able to go all the way?
