The Golden State Warriors’ plans regarding Chris Paul’s role on the team with Stephen Curry have many Warriors fans gravely concerned about how their team will perform next season. As many of us might be aware, GSW made a lot of moves this offseason after falling short to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round of the Western Conference playoffs.
Many believed that the lack of chemistry between team members after the Jordan Poole-Draymond Green altercation was a reason for their failure. GSW had to make a choice between both of them and ended up trading Poole to the Washington Wizards in return for Chris Paul.
Upon hearing news about this trade, fans across the league began to ponder how an aging CP3 would fit into the Golden State Warriors. With that being said, let us take a closer look at recent reports and find out more on this subject.
Will Chris Paul replace Klay Thompson on the Golden State Warriors?
Many of us already know that the GSW core is comprised of Stephen Curry, Klay Thomspon, and Draymond Green. All these three players have contributed greatly to the success that the team has seen over the last decade or so. Despite all of them approaching the back end of their careers, GSW was expected to continue contending for a title with them.
While we had no reason to doubt their roles on the team, GSW’s trade for Chris Paul means that one of the Splash Brothers would have to stay on the bench if the Warriors decided to start CP3. Since this was not expected, most of us expected Chris Paul to come off the bench and lead the second unit for the Warriors.
However, the latest reports have revealed that both Chris Paul and Stephen Curry are expected to start for the Warriors next season. If this report is legitimate, that means the playing time given to Klay Thompson is expected to take a hit next season.

To make matters more complicated, both Steph and CP3 play the point guard position and are not known for their defense. Therefore, putting them both on the court together might make GSW a bad defensive team. Keen-minded fans who noticed this made their feelings clear as soon as the report was released, “Makes no sense. Chris Paul should be running with the 2nd unit. This is gonna be a catastrophe.”

Perhaps we shouldn’t be too quick to judge and call the combination of Chris Paul and Steph a disaster. We look forward to seeing if the new-look Warriors are able to prove doubters wrong next season.
