The Memphis Grizzlies suspended Ja Morant a few weeks ago and it has all been mayhem since then. Morant had to pay the price after flashing a gun during an Instagram live. His social media accounts are now deleted. The NBA guard released a statement a while ago and mentioned that he would be taking some time away from the public eye.

In addition to that, it was recently reported that Morant has entered a counseling program in Florida. It is understandable considering he admitted having mental health issues more than a year ago. With that said, his absence from the NBA could potentially cost him millions, but not the way that fans expected.
With news that Ja Morant has entered counseling in Florida, it’s hard to imagine him making All-NBA, which I think would have been likely without these incidents. Not making All-NBA would cost him about $39 million, reducing his contract from a projected 5/$233m to 5/$194m

As per multiple reports, Ja could miss out on a staggering $39 million contract bonus if he doesn’t make the All-NBA team at the end of the 2022-23 season.
How much is Ja Morant’s Memphis Grizzlies contract worth?
Ja signed a new deal with the Grizzlies franchise recently. It has been heavily talked about in light of the recent controversies Ja has been involved in. His contract is currently worth $194,300,000 and will start from the beginning of the 2023-24 NBA season. However, if Ja makes it to the All-NBA team, wins MVP or Defensive Player of the Year, he will earn $233,160,000.
There are very few chances for Ja to emerge as the winner of the MVP and DPOY awards. But it will be tough for him to make it to the All-NBA lineup as well. His return date remains a question mark, and game time plays a crucial role in a player’s selection. Interestingly, Ja was on the All-NBA second team last year.
The Kia All-NBA First Team is made up entirely of players age 27 or younger for the first time since the 1954-55 season.

According to the NBA, the team is selected by 100 writers and broadcasters in the sports field. Whether Morant gets selected for the team solely depends on these voting ballots. Only time will tell if Ja returns to the court soon and performs a miracle.
