Several rumors have been circulated about the GOAT’s return to the NBA, but Michael Jordan may be a little too old for that to happen. A recent rumor stated that the legend wanted to come back and avenge the losses of the Charlotte Hornets. And, to reaffirm his greatest of all-time status as LeBron James slowly closes in on the takeover. However, these rumors are all completely false.
Right now, Michael Jordan is 60 years old. For someone at that age, the sport of basketball might be a little too physical and dangerous to compete in. Even though MJ never backs down from possibilities or challenges, it’s safe to say that this chapter will never be revisited. Considering how things have been going on for his team, Jordan will have to pull off a miracle to help them survive.
Michael Jordan really flew out to a practice while retired just to cook this rookie for talking trash about him 😭 pic.twitter.com/hopTncO9Iy

Thirteen years ago, Mike decided to purchase the Charlotte Hornets, before which they were known as the Bobcats. The franchise was at death’s door and Jordan hoped to turn things around. However, the curse is yet to be broken as the Hornets are holding on for dear life. Nothing has changed ever since the acquisition. They have never had a proper distribution of experience and talent on the roster. However, only a few trades and draft selections such as Gordon Hayward, LaMelo Ball, and a few others, were good.
The last time they qualified was back in 2016 when they reached the sixth seed. But ever since, they have only been able to bounce between the 10th and 11th seeds. This season happens to be their worst as they are seated as the 14th seed with a record of 26-53. But if Mike were to return, would he be able to win them a title?
How would Michael Jordan fare in an NBA game today?
Michael Jordan knows exactly how talented he was. And if he were ever to return to the game and show his Hornets how it’s done, he would take a chance. At the age of 40, the GOAT still managed to put up 20.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game. Many players would normally fall off track by the age of 40. However, Mike kept it going for a long time. Chances are, he would play a very vital role as a mentor on the court.
According to former NBA player Stephen Jackson, MJ actually came out of retirement once to teach the Bobcats a lesson. In an interview with Barstool Sports, Jackson revealed that Mike was so disappointed in the team that he suited up with the entire bench roster and defeated the Bobcats’ starting lineup by a mile. This took place when he was almost 50 years old as well.
