Michael Jordan Makes a $10 Million Donation to Make-A-Wish Foundation to Celebrate His 60th Birthday

Chicago Bulls legend and arguably the GOAT in the NBA, Michael Jordan will be celebrating his 60th birthday on Friday. The NBA legend has decided to spread smiles and happiness on his birthday. To celebrate his 60th birthday, Jordan has decided to donate $10 million to Make-A-Wish America. A heartwarming gesture from the 6x NBA champion toward society on his special day.

Michael Jordan is the most accomplished basketball player in history and has accumulated a lot of wealth on his journey. He is no stranger when it comes to donating money for the betterment of people. Jordan has been a partner with Make-A-Wish America for the past 34 years. During his time he has donated generously to the kids, which has been life-changing for the kids. Jordan was named the Chief Wish Ambassador in 2008.

With his recent generosity of $10 million towards the foundation, he has set a record with the amount. He has made the largest donation in the 43-year history of the foundation, what a way to give back to society. “For the past 34 years, it’s been an honor to partner with Make-A-Wish and help bring a smile and happiness to so many kids,” said Jordan, as per Associated Press. “Witnessing their strength and resilience during such a tough time in their lives has truly been an inspiration.” 

Jordan is the owner of the NBA franchise Charlotte Hornets and has been with the foundation since 1989. As per the Foundation, the money donated by Jordan will, “create an endowment to provide the funds needed to make future wishes possible for kids with critical illnesses,” as explained by the foundation.

The great Michael Jordan’s Philanthropic work doesn’t stop there. He has found ways to put his wealth to good use, especially towards giving to society. Besides from Make-A-Wish foundation, he also supports Nevada Cancer Institute, St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, Boys and Girls Clubs of America, and many others.

Jordan’s Netflix series, “The Last Dance,” which covered Jordan’s career with the Bulls brought in huge revenues. He decided to donate the proceeds to Feeding America. The money donated by his Airness was used to feed 46 million people who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

 In 2020, Jordan and his brand with Nike pledged to make a donation f $100 million in the coming 10 years. This donation will be used to fight for, “racial quality, social justice, and greater access to education.” This announcement was made during the Black Lives Matter protests, following the killing of George Floyd. Long after retiring from the NBA, Michael Jordan still steps up to do his best for society.
