The end to an exciting season is followed by surprising offseason moves and NBA 2k every year. Much anticipated NBA 2k21 ratings were released recently and became a topic of discussion for fans and players on social media. While LeBron James retained his throne as the king with a 98, his superstar teammate Anthony Davis was rated 96 this time.
Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s postseason performance was clearly the reason why he was ranked below finals MVP, LeBron James. However, it’s funny to think that a back-to-back MVP and one of the three players to ever win MVP and DOPY in the same year was robbed off of the top spot. Whether analysts vote based on narratives or NBA 2k is rating players inefficiently in left to the reader’s discretion.
Another inconsistency revealed itself when rookie of the year Ja Morant was nowhere to be seen in the top 25 list while Zion Williamson‘s NBA 2k21 rating was 86. In addition, Ja Morant’s Memphis Grizzlies reached the play-in tournament while New Orleans Pelicans were one of the first teams to be knocked out in the bubble.
NBA 2k21 cover athlete Damian Lillard was given 95 and he was pleased with the rating. However his teammate Nassir Little felt he was a solid 97 this season.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson are still the best shooters according to NBA 2k21 ratings and rightly so despite the fact that they missed the season due to gruesome injuries. James Harden is ranked above Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry which is outrageous even though they were sidelined for the major part of the season. Injuries didn’t stop 2k from rating Zion Williamson above Ja Morant.

Major NBA 2k21 Ratings flaw: Paul George ranked above Jamal Murry
The ost surprising inconsistency in this year’s NBA 2k ratings was Paul George being ranked above Jamal Murray despite the disastrous postseason he had. LA Clippers were given the best odds to win the 2020 NBA championship before the season began. Denver Nuggets shocked everyone in the playoffs with pure resilience and team effort. They came back down 3-1 twice in the western conference and the most surprising comeback was against Kawhi Leonard’s Clippers.
What Jamal Murray accomplished in his second year in the playoffs, Paul Geroge failed to do so in 9 years. Murray was scoring 50+ points in back to back games at 70% efficiency while PG13 was struggling to shoot at 30% FG.
