The Cleveland Cavaliers far exceeded expectations this season prior to the all-star break. They were one of the top-seeded teams in the Eastern Conference before injuries took a toll on them. Collin Sexton was ruled out for the season earlier this season. However, Darius Garland, Jarrett Allen, and star rookie Evan Mobley terrorized the league.
Teams started fearing them and they eventually had two players represent them at the all-star weekend. Not a single analyst or fan predicted the Cavaliers to be a top-seeded team yet they did it. But the injuries to Allen and Evan Mobley forced them down to the play-in territory later in the season.
It is a heartbreaking way to end the regular season for this young Cavs team that has achieved far beyond its means.
Jarrett Allen is questionable for the play-in tournament against Brooklyn Nets
The 7-ft Center missed 18 games due to a fractured finger on his left hand. Surprisingly, he checkout out of the game due to a knee ailment but the medical staff found the fracture while a routine checkup. He didn’t even feel it until it was detected by the doctor.
As a result, he was indefinitely sidelined but decided against the surgery. Clearly, the Cavaliers all-star intended to return to the game as soon as physically possible. Although there is no concrete evidence that he is ready to get back, fans enjoyed the sight of Allen making shots with his left hand. Although the fractured finger was taped, he looked pretty comfortable.

There is pessimism regarding his return for the play-in tournament. They will be facing the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday night potentially without Jarret Allen. However, they have two chances to defend their playoff position. Even if they lose to Kevin Durant and co, they will face the team that emerges victorious between Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets at home.
