The much anticipated NBA Draft came to an end recently. Many of the best talents were drafted carefully by each team and expectations are high for these youngsters to thrive in the league. One of those prodigies was Bennedict Mathurin.
The Indiana Pacers drafted the 20-year-old as the sixth pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. He’s a small forward who is 6’6 and 205 pounds. Unbelievable size for a small forward? I thought so too. If that wasn’t enough, his speed and explosive ability have helped him gain a reputation of his own and rightfully so.
Bennedict Mathurin’s comments about LeBron James leave fans in shock
Although BM is a top talent, we all can agree on one thing. It is usually expected for an NBA rookie to be humble and stay rooted to the ground. Since they are yet to make a name for themselves in the big league, it is expected of them to choose their words wisely while talking about their potential rivals.
There is no doubt that LeBron James has been arguably the greatest player of all time. It is safe to claim that only Michael Jordan is on par or even above him on the all-time list, depending on preferences. He has won 4 NBA Championships with the Heat, Cavs, and Lakers. Moreover, he also boasts 4 MVPs, together with 4 Finals MVPs throughout his illustrious career.
After the draft, Bennedict’s comments about LeBron were something no one has ever heard before. He mentioned, “A lot of people say he’s great. I want to see how great he is. I don’t think anybody is better than me. He’s going to have to show me he’s better than me.” Although his confidence in himself is admirable, it is also quite ridiculous.

The now Pacers player was one of the best 3-point shooters in high school. He averaged 2.2 threes every game, together with 17.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.5 assists. We can only wait and see how the youngster develops, and judge whether he reaches LeBron’s level to mark his name on the HOF list.
