Damian Lillard clearly had no prior intentions of joining the Milwaukee Bucks and playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo. As many NBA fans might have heard, the Portland Trail Blazers caught the NBA community off guard when a sudden report revealing Lillard’s trade to the Milwaukee Bucks went public.
Although the Portland Trail Blazers star has been loyal to his franchise ever since being drafted there a decade ago, he finally requested a trade. His wish now appears to be granted as the Bucks have transformed into instant championship contenders and title favorites after acquiring Lillard.
While there is no denying that Dame will fit in quite well alongside the Greek Freak, one should wonder what his opinion of the city was prior to being traded there. With that being said, let us take a better look and find out more.
Damian Lillard believed that Portland is a better city compared to Milwaukee
Until recently, Dame showed incredible loyalty and support towards the Blazers despite the fact that they are considered a small market team that struggles to recruit superstar free agents. For every NBA player, the city that drafts them ends up being a special place that they grow into.

Lillard was interviewed by Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green several months ago. This was significantly before he asked for a trade or likely even had the idea of moving on in the back of his head. When Draymond asked him if the city of Portland itself should be blamed for the lack of stars that Lillard has played alongside, Dame had quite an interesting response.
“I think part of it is that. But I mean people going to Oklahoma City bro..People going to Oklahoma City and people going to Milwaukee, You know what I mean like people are going places and Portland ain’t what people think it is. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be living here as long. If you just couldn’t live here I wouldn’t be living here as long. So like I think that’s part of it but at the end of the day people are going places like ‘You went there?’ Like Melo went to OKC when we was trying to get Melo to come here? Ask Melo where he would go first…Exactly.”
Although Dame undoubtedly felt that he was making a valid point at the time, he might have not thrown in Milwaukee if he knew that he would be traded there in the future. In any case, we look forward to finding out if Dame changes his mind about the city.
