“Russ Waited 5 Years for His Revenge” – Kevin Durant’s Recent Ankle Injury Has Fans Thinking Russell Westbrook Finally Got His Way

Since the arrival of Kevin Durant, the Phoenix Suns fans have been made to wait for his debut game. Durant had to wait to play for the Suns as he nursed back to fitness from an MCL Strain he picked at the Brooklyn Nets. However, Durant has led the team to 3 consecutive victories and was clear to play against his former team, Oklahoma City Thunder. Unfortunately, the Slim Reaper hit a minor speed bump during the pregame warmups.

However, a strange thread started spreading back to the day when Russell Westbrook played for the Thunder. A fan has related Kevin Durant’s injury to be linked with it, as Russell’s revenge for leaving the Thunder. In the photo, Russell could be seen wiping a spot on the floor of the Phoenix Suns court. The spot was slippery when the Thunder played there a few years back. “Russ waited 5 years for his revenge on KD.” was captioned on the tweet.

Durant and Westbrook shared a close bond before Durant decided to leave the Thunder. Durant joined the Golden State Warriors to form a super team alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. This move from the MVP didn’t go well with Westbrook, which left him feeling betrayed. The photo above also happens to be the same spot where Durant picked up his ankle injury. And fans calling it an act of revenge by Westbrook.

What injury did Kevin Durant suffer?

The Phoenix Suns and Durant were on a 3-game winning streak, since coming back from an MCL strain. Durant played all the last 3 games with the Suns away from home and was going to make his home debut. However, it wasn’t meant to be for Durant just yet, as he picked up an ankle injury during the pregame warmup session. Durant rolled his ankle when he went for a layup and came crashing down.

He is currently wearing a boot and is without a solid return timeline. Nevertheless, the Suns managed to pick up another win to make a 4-game win streak, 132-102. According to coach Monty Williams, it is just an ankle sprain at the moment and further tests need to be done.  Durant will undergo an MRI soon to know the extent of the injury he suffered. Since joining the suns, Durant has averaged 26.7 points, 3.7 assists, and 7.3 rebounds in 3 games.
