Between 2014-2019, the Golden State Warriors made the NBA finals every year. In those five final runs, they also won 3 NBA titles to establish themselves as a modern-day dynasty. But Shaq believes that his Los Angeles Lakers dynasty of the early 00s would make easy work of the Warriors.
The Golden State Warriors are currently in the NBA finals against the Boston Celtics. They won the crucial Game 4 to tie the series 2-2. If Golden State wins this NBA title, Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and, Klay Thompson will all have the same number of NBA titles as Shaq did in his career. His go-to point of rings would then be nothing but an afterthought in the debate.
Shaq believes the physical play will stop Golden State
In the late 90s and early 00s, the NBA was not ready for the greatest dynamic duo we have ever seen. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal spearheaded the showtime Lakers into this millennium with 3 straight NBA championships. They were extremely dominant as no one had an answer for Shaq’s physical abilities and Kobe’s perfect scoring.
They would take the best teams of that era and make easy work of them. In the 2000-01 NBA playoffs, they lost just 1 game, which was one of the greatest playoff runs of all time. If Shaq and Kobe did not have off-court issues, they could’ve realistically won 5 or more NBA titles.
Shaq truly felt the domination they would enforce on others. And the Big Diesel makes sure everyone knows that.
“We would’ve let Stephen Curry drive to the basket and I would’ve laid his little a** out a couple times.”

O’Neal believes his Lakers could beat any dynasty under the sun. Against the Warriors, the game plan would be to bully their small lineup. He’s even said on multiple occasions that his Lakers could beat Jordan’s Bulls.
There is a lot of bias in the statements he makes but also a lot of truth. Kevin Durant, a member of the Warriors dynasty, also commented on Shaq’s take, “Bring Shaq up in that pick and roll and test them hips. Pause.”
This led to a whole other fight in the comment section but Shaq still stands his ground.
