The NBA on TNT is one of, if not, the most entertaining sports show in the world. Purely because we see more than just the NBA through them. They give their humorous and sometimes useful takes on current events which always catch attention. The most recent one is Shaq and his 4-year old ‘Gas Tank Math’ theory which is trending due to increased prices.
The conflicts arising between Russia and Ukraine have had adverse effects on each other and other countries. Russia is one of the biggest exporters of oil. They export 27% of their crude oil to the European Union. And 8% of it to the United States of America. Therefore, with all countries attempting to boycott Russia and its products, the gas prices in all countries have started to rise to record-breaking extents.
Shaq is combatting the increased gas prices
In 2018, Kenny Smith was telling the rest of his TNT crew that he is choosing to not buy a car due to the amount of money he would have to spend on gas. That’s when Shaq jumped in by saying that instead of filling $80 for a full tank of gas, you should let it get to half tank and fill $20. He also added by saying that you should continue this process every time you reach half tank to make sure you spend less money.
The TNT crew was understandably confused about several things. One, half of 80 is not 20. And two, you’d have to fill gas multiple times which would equate back to $80 and a lot more work. One of Shaq’s many nicknames is ‘The Big Aristotle’ however, this theory does not help his case. This gave us a funny clip for the rest of time that had got buried until a couple of days ago.

Shaq brought out the topic again with the same amount of passion and the same lack of logic with the price increase. Kenny attempted to battle the diesel in a game of logic and reasoning. But Shaq disregarded them and crowned himself right. Another example of why Shaq’s humor is timeless.
