Shaq is one of the most versatile celebrities we have ever come across. He gained fame through his on-court performances. But after retirement has moved into many other avenues. These include acting, DJ, analyst, investor, rapper, cop, wrestler and so much more.
However, his newest endeavor that he is set to take on is the culinary world with his first cookbook that includes all types of comfort food Shaq grew up eating.
How did Shaq’s cookbook come into existence?
Shaq is a 7 foot 1, 147 kg behemoth of a man. To live at that height and maintain that weight Shaq has had to eat a lot. His Las Vegas restaurant ‘Big Chicken’ backs his culinary experience. The smart move for Shaq was to double down on that and publish his cookbook.
‘Shaq’s Family Style: Championship recipes for feeding friends and family is the name of the book and it retails for bout $21 on Amazon. It includes 80 comfort foods. However, the words in the introduction to the cookbook describe it the best.
“The recipes you’ll find here are inspired by a combination of things: Mostly recipes I know that I can make, things from my childhood, things I like to eat, places to eat, people I love, things I believe in, and, of course, some of my world-famous inventions.”
Shaq loves to put his spin on things and that’s what it looks like he’s also done with his cookbook. However, the essence of this book is that the recipes are easy to follow and execute. The other people involved in this book are Rachel Holtzman as co-author, Matthew Silverman, and Matthew Piekarski as executive chef partners, and also Eva Kolenko as the cookbook photographe0r.
Cheddar-crusted chicken pot pie is what Shaq revealed as his favorite from the cookbook in an interview with CBS morning.
The cookbook seems to be well-received already with some great reviews. One of which came from Michael Symon, the author of Fix-It with Food.
