Draymond Green makes a bold claim about Stephen Curry‘s offensive prowess in the post-game presser and discredits Kevin Durant in the process.
The Golden State Warriors tied the series 1-1 after blowing out the Boston Celtics in Game 2 at home. Jayson Tatum and co ended the Warriors’ 14-game home win streak in the playoffs to steal one on the road. The series will now move to the Garden for Games 3&4.
The lights out shooting from Game 1 did not translate to game two and turnovers piled up. Golden State went bonkers in the third quarter outscoring them 35-14. However, this time, they did not repeat the same mistake as Game 1. There was no scope for Jaylen Brown or anyone on the Celtics team to bounce back from a 25+ point deficit in the final quarter. They did not even hit the halfway mark in the fourth and Boston folded.
Draymond Green reveals Warriors chose Stephen Curry over Kevin Durant on offense
Draymond Green is considered to be the primary reason behind KD leaving the Bay area. The infamous sideline altercation from the 2018-19 season caused a rift between the two. A few weeks ago Draymond made a bold statement about opponents’ defense when the Warriors had both Curry and Durant on the floor. He believed that Steph faced far more double teams than Durant when they shared the court and it isn’t far from the truth.
Durant is not the one to stay quiet and gave Green a piece of his mind on Twitter. He didn’t provide any concrete proof against Green’s claim.
After Game 2 victory a reporter asked Green about the extent to which the Warriors depend on Curry offensively. With Poole and Thompson struggling offensively in the Finals, Golden State’s #1 and the only option is Stephen Curry. But Draymond Green says lack of options is not why Steph is their #1. Even when a scorer like KD was on their roster, Steve Kerr had Curry at the center of it all. Their offense started with him.
Draymond Green when asked about how much the Warriors are relying on Steph Curry offensively: “Our offense always starts with Steph… When KD was here, our offense still started with Steph.”

The Kevin Durant era will arguably go down as the most lethal era in Warriors basketball history. His addition gave them a dynastic reputation and the duo of KD and Steph lived up to it. In those three years, they had 3 consecutive finals appearances and won 2 rings. If not for injuries the 2019 title was theirs against Toronto Raptors.
Despite all this, Durant decided to leave a team like this to join the Brooklyn Nets are shift the media narrative that was working against him. However, in the last two seasons, he has been wildly unsuccessful in proving that he can achieve anything without Stephen Curry and co.
