All NBA fans know how close Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are. Both of them are the cornerstones of the Golden State Warriors dynasty. Moreover, they have known each other for several years and are good friends off the court. Be that as it may, Curry made a comment that could drive a wedge between the two of them.
In order to understand what the 2022 NBA Finals MVP said, it is important to recall that Draymond has a podcast, “The Draymond Green Show“. He has invited a plethora of guests and NBA stars to his podcast. That list includes Steph Curry. We would assume Curry had a good time and enjoyed the experience. However, his comments seem to suggest otherwise.
Stephen Curry would rather host the ESPY awards for decades than co-host Draymond Green’s podcast
The ESPY ( Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award) has grown in popularity over the years. This time, the 4x NBA champion was asked to be the host and anchored the whole event. People forget that some are comfortable with a microphone and being in the limelight. Others are not.
Steph cracked a few jokes and did a decent job as an anchor. However, it was clear that he seemed out of his element. We would assume that Curry would be much more comfortable co-hosting Draymond’s podcast as opposed to being a permanent host. He revealed that is nowhere close to the truth.
“I’ll see you in July for the next 30 years.”
We should wonder if Steph was actually serious and would rather spend 3 decades hosting an award ceremony. Draymond can be a handful at times. But is his podcast really a significant downgrade from the ESPY’s? Curry certainly seems to indicate so.
In all fairness, perhaps Chef Curry simply made the statement humorously and with no malicious intent. However, Draymond wants to be known as a legitimate face of the “New Media” from the player-oriented perspective. Therefore, there is a good chance he could feel offended that his teammate made light of something he is very passionate about.
We hope this changes nothing between them and Green doesn’t take Curry’s taste in choices too seriously.
