Stephen Curry is having quite the NBA offseason. After all, he is the NBA Finals MVP and his team is the defending champion entering the new season. This has been an incredible season for the 4x NBA champion. He won the all-star game MVP and broke the all-time three-pointers made record. Thus, with a title and a Finals MVP, this has been one of the best seasons in his career.
Curry is quite well connected and knows several celebrities in this world. Snoop Dogg is arguably one of the greatest entertainers and musicians in this world. They were seen together and Steph even posted a photo on Instagram with the two of them. One must wonder what the occasion was and what these two legends did.
Not many people know that “The Doggfather” is an avid fan of the NBA. He has been a huge Lakers fan for several years and has a true passion for the sport of basketball. It is no surprise that he decided to collaborate with Curry for this cause. As it turns out, Dogg claims to have made his first layup ever there. Therefore, he decided to join the 4x NBA champion at this event and even participate in a shootaround.
Stephen Curry and Snoop Dogg donated towards opening a new basketball gym
Snoop and Steph shared the stage at the renovated basketball gym. It clearly meant a lot to The Doggfather as it is originally his hometown court on Long Island. However, he was not the only one who spoke. The 2022 NBA Finals MVP explained why it mattered just as much to him.

“I mean, it means a lot to this community, especially to say there is so much history here…Like Snoop just said it was here where he learned how to hoop and be around friends that he had for life and that’s what we want to have for you boys and girls you know a space that you can come enjoy yourself and get lost in the fun, get lost in the competition, invest in yourselves… I can think of a lot of ways with coaches and programs but this is just the beginning of an amazing journey not just in sports but in life.”
Curry also went on to explain the importance of sports, “ Sports teaches us so much about life and about building character, being a part of teams and believing in yourself so we’re glad to be able to provide that..” It was a very well-thought-out speech. Additionally, Steph also enjoyed shooting around and doing dribbling drills with Dogg and the kids. Snoop also gave Steph a “Death row” chain to celebrate this occasion.
It is always nice to see people give back to the community. Not everyone is lucky enough to have somewhere to go and just hoop. Snoop never became a pro basketball player but made friends for life on the court. This is what Steph wants for other people as well.
