Dwyane Wade is often praised for his family-oriented nature. He has always shown how much he cares for his family and why they are important to him. Over the last few months especially, there have been a few rough moments for him to take up regarding his ex-wife and daughter Zaya Wade. A story that he thought ended over a decade ago came back to haunt him.
As we all may know, Zaya came out to the world as transgender back in 2020, close to a year after Dwyane Wade’s retirement from the NBA. As expected, the legend was very much supportive of his daughter’s decision and proclaimed her sexuality to the world. His ex-wife, Siohvaughn Funches on the other hand accused him of capitalizing on Zaya by forcing her to get a gender change. She even filed a petition to stop her daughter from getting her name and gender legally changed.
Funches is Zaya and Zaire Wade’s biological mother who had them during the five years she was married to Dwyane Wade in the early 2000s. Following her accusations, the former Miami Heat star issued a lengthy Instagram post stating why Funches was in the wrong. “These are serious and harmful allegations that have hurt our children,” he said. Wade also claimed that Funches often attempts to drag his name through the mud.

Yesterday, Zaya made it official by changing her name and gender legally. Although this may seem like a moment to be celebrated, several fans seemed to have lashed out on him. One of them said, “Terrible dad… his son a baby when he turns 18 and then decided he wanted to do that. Then that’s his decision. As a parent you supposed to teach and guide your kids. DWADE gets the ‘L’ for this nonsense.”

I seriously think that Dwade is living vicariously through [email protected]/daughter .. he wants to do this to himself that is why he is so with everything like that baby kind is not [email protected] all the way why let him make changes like this too himself.. so sad for Dwade smh

NEVER in my life am I allowing my ADOLESCENT CHIIIIILD “change” their gender. I will love and support you as a father should, BUT you will have to figure THAT PART OUT once you’re an adult.

Ironically, while Zaya came out, almost the entire world was for it and Dwyane Wade was absolutely for it. While the NBA dad is still very supportive, the rest of the world seems to have changed the way they look at this situation. Some fans seem to be partially siding with what Funches had to say as well.
