Victor Wembanyama is slowly inching his into the NBA and it is only a matter of weeks before his dream officially becomes reality. Recently, the draft lottery took place and the top teams were allotted their slots. Amongst it all was Victor who was eager to find out which team he may probably end up on when he gets drafted. NBA analyst Brian Windhorst was with the potential No.1 overall pick in Paris.
Windhorst asked the Metropolitans 92 star about his goals after joining the NBA. Victor replied saying, “You know, [I am a] team player. I’m going to make everything to win as many games as I can. And I’m trying to win a ring asap, so be ready.” However, his aspirations were shut down by one fan who believes Victor will not be successful due to the losing record of the San Antonio Spurs.

Uhhhh, that’s not happening. I promise you that. Spurs are gonna be bad. And not bad enough to get another top prospect.

“Uhhhh, that’s not happening. I promise you that. Spurs are gonna be bad. And not bad enough to get another top prospect,” said the fan. The Spurs won the lottery and they currently have the top pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. Over the last few seasons, San Antonio has had a losing record. It would take a lot more than Wembanyama to bounce back into playoff contention at the least.
Victor Wembanyama believes that all Lottery Picks are great teams
Victor Wembanyama has truly shown a fighter’s spirit. Usually, when a player is drafted No.1 overall or within the top four picks, it means that they have to deal with a franchise that has been struggling. When he declared for the NBA Draft and the top draft teams were announced, Wembanyama made it clear that he will change the narrative around them.
He told ESPN, “There is no wrong team. I am not worried. There is no bad organization. I never tell myself I don’t like to go there. Every organization is so careful about their players that there’s no wrong destination.” The athlete averaged 21.6 points and 10.5 rebounds last year and is projected to reach the likes of NBA legends.
Victor has been the best NBA Draft prospect since 2003 when LeBron James was the No.1 overall pick. He is also the best pick among his draft peers by a mile. He revealed that it was his childhood dream to get drafted by the NBA. Wembanyama was also praised for his work by LeBron James as well, who called him an “alien” and a generational talent. The 7″4 ft center could become the next biggest NBA player if he remains healthy.
