Those of us who use the official NBA site regularly, have noticed something strange, and Jimmy Butler is on top of it all. The Miami Heat forward caught all of us off-guard during this off-season when he came in with dreadlocks. We all were expecting that he would be sporting this new hairstyle in the upcoming season (2022-23). However, he got rid of those locks and decided to rock his usual hairstyle before the pre-season started.
Jimmy in the off-season was sporting the look with dreadlocks and even on media day used the new hairstyle to make headlines. Now when one looks up the Miami Heat roster on the NBA site or ESPN, we can see Jimmy with his dreadlock in his photo. We’ll have to get used to seeing him in dreadlocks for the entire season on the official sites. This season, however, Butler is rocking his usual cut which makes it a little confusing at times.

The real reason the Miami Heat forward took the look was to make the internet mad with his changed look. He even shaved his face, giving him a Rastafarian look. He has made no promises not to wear that look again, so we can expect him to rock the look in the regular season.
The Heat forward has been sticking his neck out for the Heat all season and continues to be a key play in their pursuit of the NBA title.
Jimmy Butler admits he had hair extension done
Butler has admitted that his dreadlocks hairstyle is not here to stay and gave an explanation behind it. Indeed, the fans were certainly entertained by the stunt pulled by Butler, when he revealed his new look in the press conference. On being asked why he went with the braids, he responded, “I’m just messing with stuff to make the internet mad, that was my goal this summer, and it worked.”

Butler said jokingly, “They’re not extensions, so, who knows, I’m trying out a lot of new looks. Y’all like my baby-faced assassin look? It’s kinda cute, isn’t it?” Unfortunately, Jimmy didn’t just magically grow 12-inch locks in a matter of months, they are obviously extensions. Even in his interviews, he was jokingly denying the allegations of wearing extensions.
