Michael Jordan has struggled to sell one of his houses that he bought when the Chicago Bulls were thriving. The big question here is, who would not want to buy a house that accommodated the biggest athlete of all time? Not to mention, MJ is still arguably the greatest athlete ever. The mansion is a piece of sports history in a way, as Jordan spent most of his career there and his teammates would often work out there as well.
But it turns out, from a real estate point of view, nobody believes the house is worth spending $14.9 million. Despite all the incredible features and memories that come along with it, people do not want to live there due to the number of personalized areas. Several parts of the house were specifically designed to suit the tastes of the GOAT. What adds to the misery is the fact that the Jordan branding is visible in numerous parts of the house.

In an attempt to sell the house, Michael Jordan even offered to give buyers a pair of every single edition of his signature shoe. Jordan’s shoes have become more or less collectibles. Another issue with the home is its location. Potential celebrity buyers say that the location isn’t particularly where they would want to live. No matter how hard he has tried, the house which was listed at $29 million in 2012 has decreased to less than half the price and still remains unsold.
Does Michael Jordan still use his $14.9 million unsold mansion?
Michael Jordan perhaps uses it when he needs to, which may not be that often. He currently lives in Jupiter, Florida, where he moved with his wife Yvette Prieto, and his children back in 2013. The “unsellable” house is situated in Highland Park, Illinois. This house isn’t always deserted. Even though it’s used, MJ still has workers to maintain the property and keep it spotless.
Michael Jordan also still pays property tax for the mansion as it is still under his ownership. He pays around $130,00 per year in taxes, according to SCMP. Since 2012, the total amount paid for property tax has come to an estimated $2.5 million. Mike lived in the mansion for nearly two decades before he moved out of the area. The estate is a beautiful space that’s worthy enough to be called a resort.
Some of the house’s unique features are its 19 bathrooms. It also features a door from the original Playboy mansion and a dining table that resembles the map of the streets of Bagdad, Iraq. Mike also built an amazing full-sized basketball court that has the jump man logo on it. It also has a massive pond with a lot of fish and an infinity pool. The main gate has the number 23 welded into it as well.
