Ja Morant has just released his first signature shoe with Nike. We already know that Morant is a sensational athlete who has carried his franchise back into relevance after being drafted. It seems that Nike feels the same way as they offered him an endorsement shoe deal in order to promote their brand.
Fans will remember the recent events and controversies that have occurred at Nike. They were linked to child slave labor in China for profits. Additionally, they recently ended a contract and signature shoe deal with Brooklyn nets star Kyrie Irving. It was done after Irving’s antisemitic behavior and ensuing punishment from the league.
It would appear as if fans are not satisfied with Kyrie’s shoes being disbanded by Nike. Despite the Ja Morant line which has only commenced now. We should take a look at how they feel and whether it is justified in the current context.
NBA fans prefer Kyrie Irving over Ja Morant for a signature shoe line with Nike
There is no denying that Kyrie Irving is unreal and transcendental basketball talent. Nike clearly recognized this and signed him on as a representative for an 8-year period. As we know, they terminated his contract in the wake of antisemitic allegations against Irving. When they did so, there was only a year left in his deal with Nike. it was set to expire in October 2021. However, they cut his deal short.
Hey @Nike , let’s go ahead and bring Kyrie back and forget you ever made these.

That clearly means there will no longer be any Kyrie shoes associated with Nike. This is quite unfortunate as some of them were truly appealing and unique. Be that as it may, all we can do now is look forward to the new Ja Morant shoe line.
Nobody buying 😭😭

Ja recently shared the first shoe that he teamed up with Nike to release called the “Day 1”. However, the design and color are not exciting for the fans of the sport. As a result, one fan even questioned why they cut Kyrie for this new shoe.
They cut kyrie for this?

Kyries way better
— JT (@JTsMVP) December 25, 2022
In all fairness, this is not an accurate statement to be made. Ja had already signed his contract with Nike before they decided to terminate their existing deal with Irving. Therefore, fans presuming that they made a choice between the two athletes is certainly inaccurate.
Kyrie and Nike’s relationship has nothing to do with Ja’s shoes. Ja’s shoes was coming out regardless.

In any case, we hope that Morant and Nike are able to collaborate and release better signature shoes in order to cater to a sophisticated fan base.
