The Memphis Grizzlies will be without Ja Morant for a couple of games due to a suspension. Morant has been making headlines for a couple of weeks now. Allegations were made against him for punching a 17-year-old and flashing a gun. However, despite those allegations, Morant took the stand of self-defense against the 17-year-old. However, no arrest has been made or any actions taken by the organization regarding this matter.

The Grizzlies suspended Morant for another incident that happened in Denver. The Grizzlies suspended Morant for flashing a gun in a nightclub after the loss against the Nuggets. The organization didn’t tolerate such behavior and swiftly handed the guard a 2-game suspension. Morant has taken responsibility for his actions and issued an apology. Despite this, the NBA is investigating the incident for the possibility of carrying a gun when traveling in the team airplane.
Dillon Brooks opens up about Ja Morant’s suspension
The Memphis Grizzlies played without Morant for a third consecutive game. Out of which they lost two games to both the Los Angeles teams. However, they bounced back to snap the 2-game losing streak against the Golden State Warriors. The Grizzlies showed character against the Warriors in a 131-110 win over the Dubs at home. Six players from the Grizzlies roster scored in double digits. The Warriors brought misery on themselves after naming a strong starting 5.
The Grizzlies have not yet lifted Morant’s suspension and will be heading to Texas to face the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday. After the character-building game against the Warriors, Dillon Brooks praised Morant’s involvement with his teammates. Brooks opened up about the phone call from Morant after the win over the Warriors.

“He called us after the game, congratulating us. He’s in good spirits, working out. Even though he’s not with us, he’s still with us. Always. This is his team. Every single day he sends us a group text giving us encouraging messages, just to keep being us. He’s still with us every single day, every single day, and we can’t wait to have him back.” Said Brooks, according to Tim McMahon.
It is still unsure as to when Morant will be back for the Grizzlies, as there are reports of a longer suspension. With the investigations conducted by the NBA, it is hard to fix a timeline for when the suspension will be lifted.
