Seeing people defending Jamirah Shutes by saying “but she’s just a kid” is so ridiculous. 23 years old and a 5th year senior. Pretty sure by then most people realize you don’t sucker punch someone in a handshake line or at anytime for that matter.

Violence in any sport draws serious consequences, and for Jamirah this is going to haunt her. Jamirah is believed to be furious after the loss and engaged in a verbal altercation just before punching her. Since the incident happened right at the front of the match table, Jamirah could be in a lot of trouble. The rest of the Bowling Green players didn’t lose their cool and maintained professionalism, avoiding further unnecessary actions.

A criminal case will follow Jamirah after her unnecessary actions after the game, and assault charges are filed against her. This would’ve been a different matter altogether had the incident happened during the game. It will be a huge warning to all young and aspiring athletes, to avoid violence in and outside the game. It is only a matter of time before Jamirah faces serious consequences and a possible arrest.
