The 7th seed Minnesota Timberwolves took on the 8th seed LA Clippers in the first play-in game of this season. LA has had a very subpar season due to the injuries they picked up. Whereas the Minnesota Timberwolves massively improved from their roster changes of previous seasons. When the Timberwolves did win Shaq, the NBA on TNT crew and some other former champions mocked them.
The Los Angeles Clippers season isn’t over yet. They will get to play the winner of the 9th and 10th seed as a 2nd chance to the 2022 NBA playoffs.
Shaq reacts to the Minnesota Timberwolves celebrations
The Minnesota Timberwolves are having a good season by their standards. They won 46 games this season and had a top 10 offense in the entire NBA. Anthony Edwards was making the Timberwolves scouting team look good with his 21 points per game and the perfect number 2 for KAT.
Against the Clippers, Anthony Edwards led the scoring with his 30 points. KAT was struggling tonight, in one of the biggest games. However, DLO’s 29 points picked up the slack. The Timberwolves outscored the Clippers by 11 points in the 4th quarter to take the win and get themselves a playoff spot.
This is a very rare occasion for the Timberwolves. Since the 2004-05 season, the Minnesota Timberwolves have made the playoffs once, in 2017-18 season. In that playoff run, they lost in the first round. That made this one of the biggest achievements in recent franchise history. And they celebrated it with twice as much enthusiasm. They were screaming and shouting and jumping on announcers’ tables to show the NBA how happy they were.
However, that level of celebration for winning a play-in game got a lot of mockery from the NBA. On NBA on TNT, Shaq asked where is the ‘We are the Champions’ song. Charles and Ernie joined by saying their end of playoffs sign-out lines tonight. Even Kyle Kuzma and LeBron James took to Twitter after seeing the celebrations unfold.

Do you think that the Timberwolves went a bit overboard in their celebrations? Or do you believe it was all justified? Can’t wait to see how they would react if they won the first round.
