Flau’jae Johnson and the LSU Tigers were heavily criticized before pulling off the biggest upset in the NCAA this season. Fans claimed that the team wasn’t worthy or good enough to go all the way through. LSU and Johnson’s teammate Angel Reese also brought this to light following the Tigers’ game against the Iowa Hawkeyes in the finals. They used it as fuel to power their way to a title.
Flau’jae Johnson played a huge part on the roster this season averaging 11 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game along with 1.2 steals. This was her very first season in college and Tigers’ Kim Mulkey used her to the best of her abilities. Johnson’s numbers paired with Reese’s 23 points and 15.4 rebounds led the Tigers to an outstanding March Madness stint.

After LSU’s acquisitions, Johnson felt that it was only right to clap back at haters. She remixed rapper Latto’s famous “Put it on da dance floor” song and shut down all her critics. One of her lines said, “We Got Van Lith That’s What I Stress If They Suggest We Can’t Repeat.” Fans have continued to put the Tigers down despite having an incredible talent roster for next season. On paper, they probably have the best odds of winning the title again.
Flau’jae Johnson welcomes two new LSU Tigers teammates
Just over two weeks ago, elite scorer Hailey Van Lith transferred to Louisiana State University. Lith is an All-America who possesses talent like no other. She played for the Louisville Cardinals before this and averaged 19.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game last season. One of Lith’s biggest strengths is her play-making ability which will go well with Reese’s inside scoring.
A few days ago, LSU welcomed another top-ranked women’s basketball player, Aneesah Morrow. She is a perfect mix of offense and defense. Morrow best resembles Reese’s game which could be a major threat to the NCAA next season. Aneesah averaged 25.7 points and 12.2 rebounds last season which shows that coach Mulkey has more than enough firepower on her team.
With Van Lith, Morrow, Johnson, and Reese on the roster, it may be a guaranteed back-to-back title victory. Fans are beginning to compare the Tigers to the Golden State Warriors dynasty that lasted between 2016 and 2019. If the Tigers were to face the Hawkeyes once again, it would be a women’s college basketball version of the 2016 NBA Finals.
