The Memphis Grizzlies have grown quite popular in recent months. Their style of play, attitude on and off the court, and trash talk are to thank for this. Ja Morant is arguably the face of the Grizzlies franchise, but Dillon Brooks and Jaren Jackson Jr. hold their ground as well. Speaking of Brooks, he has managed to involve himself in plenty of controversies recently.
Dillon Brooks seemed to have “poked the bear,” which is LeBron James, during the first round of the playoffs. The Los Angeles Lakers got the job done with ease and managed to get past the Grizzlies. It is no secret that Brooks loves to talk trash to his opponent, but to King James, it was different. Brooks had hoped to get into LeBron’s mind but it didn’t seem to work.

The 4x NBA champ managed to stay calm throughout the series and did his talking after the Lakers knocked them out. Right after this, Brooks started dodging media availability, for which he received a $25,000 fine from the NBA as well. That isn’t all. Recently, reports have claimed that the Grizzlies franchise has told the player that they will not be signing him under any circumstance.’
Dillon Brooks wished for a bigger role before being shut down by the Memphis Grizzlies
For those who don’t know, Dillon Brooks fills up the primary defender role for the Grizzlies. It would be safe to claim that he is one of the most talented defenders out there, but it looks like he wanted to do more than that. Brooks said as per The Commercial Appeal, “I don’t think I lost anything on the offensive end. I was just there to three-and-D, shoot and play defense. I got way more to my game than that.”
The Grizzlies tried to give Brooks’ an offensive role, but it backfired horribly against the Lakers. Taylor Jenkins realized that the 27-year-old’s defense was vital for the team and something that the other players thrived off. However, using Brooks as a playmaker did not work out at the end of the day.
It has not been disclosed where Brooks could go after leaving the Grizzlies, but he is a talented player that could have a few NBA franchises on high alert.
