Arlisha Boykins is on the news for impersonating a 13-year-old in a girl’s junior varsity basketball game. Amid many controversies that happen in men’s basketball, this is something unexpected. Arlisha held the position of an assistant coach for the Churchland High girl’s junior varsity team. However, her actions are severe. The school authorities weren’t able to tolerate such behavior and fired her.
Arlisha dressed up as a 13-year-old when the Chruchland High Truckers played the Nansemond River. She got caught, as she wore the No. 1 jersey of a 13-year-old student. The student at the time was out of town and absent from the game. This was mentioned by the parents of the teenage girl on WAVY TV 10.
Boykins played against girls of 14 and 15 years. She even drove to the basket to put up a layup, making blocks and shooting free throws. In the video, she looks like any other normal teenage player. Arlisha Boykins faced the knife, after the school set up a meeting to decide the consequence of her actions. Along with this, the varsity head coach and the junior varsity head coach also faced the knife. For, “encouraging the behavior” during the game.

The parents of the teenage girl were left disgusted with such behavior and expected an apology, “Coaches always preach to the kids about integrity and those types of things, so I was just shocked. I just need an apology, you know, because I haven’t yet received one from the overseer of the program”, said the father of the 13-year-old. It is relatively unknown of her whereabouts and hasn’t spoken on the matter yet.
As a result of her actions, the Churchland junior varsity players and parents chose to forgo the remainder of the season.
Who is Arlisha Boykins?
Before making her way as the assistant coach for Churchland High Truckers, she went to Radford University. She finished her education at Radford University. She completed studied, Bachelor of Science in BS, Kinesiology, and Exercise Science. However, there is very limited information about her personal and professional life. Boykins started with the JV team on August 29, 2022, and was fired from the job on January 25, 2023. Not even a year with the team.

This said, it sent out a very wrong message to the parents and students alike of the school. The parents of the 13-year-old who she impersonated, have stated that she will not be continuing with them. They will be looking elsewhere for their daughter’s education. The actions of Boykins and those involved may have caused serious consequences to themselves as well as the school.
