NBA fans are somewhat skeptical after hearing the latest news on Ja Morant. As almost everyone might be aware by now, the Memphis Grizzlies star was suspended for 4 games after people found out he hit a 17-year-old boy and brought a gun to the scene after a basketball game dispute.
While that might not have been too bad in itself, Ja made things much worse for himself by appearing on an Instagram live stream, partying, and waving a gun around. This made the situation all the more serious and the Grizzlies organization decided to suspend him.
Now it looks like Morant will be away for longer than initially expected. Let us take a look at why this is happening and how fans are reacting to this development.
Fans opine on whether Ja Morant should be sent for counseling
It turns out that Ja might be going through some problems and issues that the media and public cannot perceive clearly. Perhaps that is the only explanation to justify his recent behavior. In any case, news soon broke out that Morant wouldn’t be returning anytime soon for the Grizzlies as he recently entered a counseling program.

As a result of this, there isn’t even a clear timetable on when he is expected to return to the team. In fact, all we know is that the counseling is going on somewhere in Flordia. One could argue that this is good news and speaks to the fact that Morant is willing to work on himself and become a better human being.
That is certainly possible. However, some fans feel that Ja has ulterior motives for deciding to enter counseling and that it need not be completely genuine. They claimed that he was doing so simply in order to keep his endorsement deal with Nike for a signature shoe line alive, “Whatever is needed to keep the shoe deal. That’s all that matters $$$$$.”

Although mental health isn’t something to joke about, many are cynical as to whether Morant can actually change and mock how his counseling session could go down.
hey doc can you teach me how to not act like a gangsta and beat up 17 yr olds? and while you at it, how do i stop flashing guns habitually?

Thankfully for Ja, he also had a fair share of people standing up for him. Either they were happy that he is improving and felt that he should take his sweet time. Or they were unhappy with the very fact that he was being potentially forced into counseling for making comparatively small mistakes.
Hopefully he’s doing well

In any case, we wish Ja Morant a speedy recovery and hope that he finds a way to come out of this situation for the better. He still has a long career ahead of him and can bury this in the past with the right approach.
