Luka Doncic has been on the receiving end of criticism for showing support to Arike Ogunbowale, a WNBA star currently playing for the Dallas Wings. As some of us might already know, the Wings are also based in Dallas, the same city that Luka Doncic is currently playing for with the Mavericks.
Doncic sent out a video supporting Arike making her case as the Rookie of the Year. However, the Minnesota Lynx fanbase called out Luka and called his entire video scripted. NBA fans should certainly be interested in knowing what Luka said in his video and what the Lynx seem to have a problem with.
The Minnesota Lynx claim Luka Doncic has never watched a WNBA game
Luka Legend is undoubtedly proving to be one of the best players in the NBA. He has carried the Mavericks back into relevance and has turned them into contenders. Therefore, it would make sense to use him to promote other basketball teams and players who are based in Dallas. After all, it would certainly help with the ratings.
As a result, Doncic ended up promoting Arika Ogunbowale, a Dallas Wings star. He voiced out his support for heart this season while holding her jersey in his hands, “What’s up Arike? I know you’re having a great season so just keep pushing. I know you’re going to be the rookie of the year so the best of luck to you.”

It is always nice to see prominent NBA players stand up for and represent WNBA players. However, the Minnesota Lynx Twitter page admin saw this post and could not help reacting to it.
“Says a guy who hasn’t been to a WNBA game all season but got sent a jersey and recorded a scripted video.”

Perhaps this is false and Luka did do his due diligence before deciding to promote Arike as the Rookie of the Year for the WNBA. The Dallas Wings even ended up responding to this statement by a rival franchise and called it out as untrue.
That’s actually false, but good try.

It is unclear whether Luka has actually attended a game in person. However, one should wonder if that is really necessary before deciding to promote an athlete from the same city. NBA fans also feel that this is a bad look for the Lynx as more NBA players promoting the WNBA would certainly make their situation better. In any case, it would appear that Luka’s acknowledging Arike has not been taken very seriously by other WNBA teams like the Lynx.
