LeBron James has been breaking records throughout his career. He is again poised to write history soon. In terms of individual statistics, the 38-year-old Lakers player is having a fantastic season, averaging 30.2 points per game, 8.5 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game. LeBron’s exceptional play has contributed significantly to the Los Angeles Lakers 24-28 record as they presently sit 13th in the Western Conference.
The 38-year-old has been surpassing expectations and is showing no signs of stopping as he continues to deliver for his team night in and night out. We have rarely seen a player play at such a high level being close to 40 years of age. Most recently, LeBron became the only player in history to score a triple-double in their 20th season. He did it in a win against the New York Knicks last night at Madison Square Garden.
How many points has LeBron James scored this season?
The Lakers defeated the Knicks last night behind LeBron’s 28-point triple-double which included 10 rebounds and 11 assists. His assist total also helped him surpass Mark Jackson and Steve Nash in the NBA’s all-time assist leader rankings. He now has the 4th most assists of all time, a whole 10,338 of them.
LeBron has lived up to his reputation as a pass-first-floor general, but what’s even more impressive is that he stands second on the all-time scoring list also. He’s only trailing another former Lakers legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who currently holds the record with 38,387 points. Kareem has held the record since April 5, 1984. LeBron James was born on December 30, 1984.
Kareem broke the all time scoring record on April 5, 1984.
Lebron was born on December 30, 1984. Which is 270 days after the day Kareem broke the record.
The average length of a pregnancy is 270 days. Lebron was CONCEIVED on that SAME day.

Now, we’re days away from witnessing a moment in history in which a guy who wasn’t even born when the scoring record was last claimed, will claim it as his own. Having scored 1,237 points this season at an average of 30.2 points per game, King James now stands just 89 points away from starting his reign as the all-time leading scorer. Plus, this won’t be the only record of Abdul-Jabbar that LeBron has tied this year.
Based on his scoring average this season, LeBron would need three more games to break the record. The Lakers have two more games to play on their current road trip, against Indiana Pacers and New Orleans Pelicans. Then they will head back home for 2 games, hosting the Oklahoma City Thunder on Feb 7 and the Milwaukee Bucks on Feb 9.
LeBron James on chasing the NBA’s all-time scoring record: “I’m going to do it. It’s just a matter of time when I’m going to do it. I’m not going anywhere. I’m going to be in this league for at least a few more years.” pic.twitter.com/kIPmDFwF0F

If he goes by his season average, that puts him in a position to achieve the historic milestone on Feb 7 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. His teammates, competitors, and fans around the world would have their eyes set on him as they get to witness the King achieve a historic feat that isn’t likely to repeat in a long time.
