There have been a whole lot of issues surrounding the Memphis Grizzlies franchise lately. Their biggest one yet has to be Ja Morant and his friend’s social media mishap. Unfortunately, the All-Star was caught flashing a gun on Davonte Pack’s Instagram account. Several fans caught hold of the incident and spread the news across social media like wildfire. Experts and other sports icons slammed Morant for his actions.

Especially, Twitch streamer and YouTube Adin Ross who briefly spoke about Morant’s actions. He began to flare up screaming, “Lock him up! He’s a thug!” multiple times before revealing that he was joking around. Draymond Green also had his say on the matter recently.

He said, “Like, you actually don’t know if he had a license. You don’t know if that gun was licensed for him. Most people probably don’t know whether it’s an open-carry state or not. You don’t know where he was and if he was in Florida, and it’s an open-carry state! You don’t know none of those things!” Green continued, “It’s actually not illegal to have a gun in a lot of places in America.”
The 4x Champion clarified that he didn’t condone Ja Morant’s actions. He believes that it was irresponsible especially due to having a large following.
Ja Morant takes full responsibility for his actions
This is the second gun-related incident that Ja Morant has been involved in since March. Besides this, several assault allegations have also been placed against him. It is quite unfortunate that one of the league’s biggest stars has found himself in such a big issue. The former Most Improved Player of the Year released an apology statement regarding his recent actions.
He said, “I know I’ve disappointed a lot of people who have supported me. This is a journey and I recognize there is more work to do. My words may not mean much right now, but I take full accountability for my actions. I’m committed to continuing to work on myself.” The statement he released earlier during the first incident was fairly similar.
People are disappointed that he failed to keep up with his words, especially NBA Commissioner Adam Silver. The Commissioner claims that he was blindsided by the whole event as Morant seemed to genuinely recognize what he had done the first time. Memphis has suspended Morant from all team-related activities and Nike has also postponed his upcoming release.
