NBA players are capable of dominating in the league for a fixed amount of years. One’s team, playstyle, and mentality decide how long one will be of importance in the league. Dwight Howard has been a part of the NBA for 17 years now. He was drafted in 2004 and is one of the few active players from the “LeBron James era“. The 3x defensive player of the year has dropped several hints over the years, that he might pursue a WWE career in the near future.

Several basketball legends have shown a passion for other sports. LeBron James might have become an NFL player instead, Michael Jordan decided to pursue baseball after retiring for the first time and Steph Curry has shown that he is an elite golfer. Therefore, it would really be no surprise if Dwight manages to have a successful WWE career. However, we must wonder how passionate he really is about this and what he has done to prepare himself for a future in the wrestling entertainment industry.

Dwight Howard has been getting advice from WWE stars for years

It has been made clear that the NBA star is a wrestling fan. He is known to several big names in the WWE. Most recently, Dwight was spotted with WWE legend “The Undertaker“. They exchanged a few quick words before the 2022 summer slam began.

The retired wrestler brought his wife and children to meet the 2020 NBA champion backstage and even praised Dwight for his dominant play over the years. Additionally, there have been several reports stating Howard took part in WWE workouts held in Nashville, Tennessee.

There is a video of him attempting to imitate a WWE wrestler and practice his on-camera presence. It is important to be a crowd favorite in the wrestling entertainment industry. Therefore, wearing costumes, having a larger-than-life personality, and being innately confident are important skills to learn.

Most people require years of practice and experience to become successful WWE wrestlers. It is unclear how much experience the NBA veteran has in this unique field. However, reports show that he has been invested in the wrestling domain for several years now. During his time with James Harden and the Houston Rockets in 2015, he showed up to an event called “WWE Smackdown“.

He even took the time to meet “Tripple H” another famous wrestler from the WWE and asked for an assessment after participating in the workouts, “Howard’s from the shadow realm. He came in here and flicked everyone like a booger, it was amazing.”

This is no passing compliment and speaks to the impression left on Tripple H’s mind after watching Howard in action. We hope he gets a shot in the WWE so that we can understand Dwight’s potential in the ring.

I just hope NBA players don't hate me for writing about them. Would rather face them on the court than in a postgame press conference.
