Vanessa Bryant is a very fierce woman who only stands for what is right for her, her late husband Kobe Bryant, and her family. Following the death of the former Los Angeles Lakers player, things have been very messy for her. Facing several lawsuits, Vanessa had to face a greedy mother who tried to extort her a few months after Kobe’s passing.
On facing one of the hardest situations in her life Vanessa Bryant was left to put up with her own mother. Besides this, the mother of four fought long and hard to defend Kobe’s legacy. Over four years later, the Bryant family has only recently been left alone to live freely. Vanessa protected herself as well as her children as much as she could.
Sofia Laine used her daughter Vanessa Bryant over Kobe Bryant’s promises
Prior to his passing, Sofia Laines to have had a couple of meetings with him. According to sources, Laines was promised money but wasn’t given what was owed. She also claimed that she had to be given $5 million for babysitting Vanessa’s children for the last twelve years.
As crazy as it sounds, Vanessa Bryant went on to deny all the claims that were put forth. This eventually led to the case being settled in favor of Vanessa. It was very unfortunate how Vanessa got treated by her own mother following Kobe’s death. Usually, people expect to have their loved ones close but not in this case.
Vanessa Bryant said, “(Sofia) now wants to back charge me $96 per hour for supposedly working 12 hours a day for 18 years for watching her grandchildren. In reality, she only occasionally babysat my older girls when they were toddlers.” The eldest daughter also denied having her grandparent around for as long as Sofia claimed.
In the end, Vanessa clarified that it was all just a hoax set up to extort money. “Now I see what is most important to my mother and it’s more than painful. I hope that everything that is coming out about our personal relationship ends here,” said Vanessa to her mother. Sofia put forth her argument by claiming that her son-in-law promised to look after her for life.
