Shaq continues to be in the public limelight long after his playing days are over. The former Lakers champion is an active participant in the world of NBA as an analyst of TV networks such as TNT. Alongside that, he also makes appearances on various other shows, such as morning shows, and talk shows. And also as we have learned, he does carpool karaokes too.
The former MVP was roped in by Apple TV to come on to their show, Carpool Karaoke. Alongside him, Apple TV also invited WWE superstar wrestler and actor, John Cena. A cool crossover for any fan of wrestling and basketball from the 2000s.
But it was not the singing or the karaoke that delivered the most laughs on this episode, it was the two literal larger-than-life personalities just being them.
Shaq and John Cena are not a good fit together
The two superstar personalities are physical phenoms and not like your everyday Joe. Shaquille O’Neal is the second heaviest player to ever play in the NBA at a massive 359 pounds (163 kg). Add to that his 7 feet and 1-inch height and you have one of the biggest and most imposing athletes ever.
John Cena does not fare too bad himself. Almost a foot smaller than Shaq, John Cena is 6 and a half feet tall. But is supremely built as is the requirement of wrestling showbusiness, and weighs 251 pounds (114 kg). As Cena himself aptly put it, “One large man. One much larger man.”.
Unfortunately for the two big men, they were first offered a small smart car as their drive for the episode of Carpool Karaoke. The car looked almost diminutive in their presence. But the two former world champions in their respective fields sportingly gave it a go.
What followed was a hilarious attempt at squeezing themselves into the limited space of the car. Cena settled in, but Shaq failed to make it inside completely before laughter ensued amongst the two. They finally let rationality take precedence and agreed to do it on a larger car, more befitting their physique.
