NBA fans were surprised to find out that Bob Myers has decided to step down from his position. To those who do not know, Myers has been General Manager for the Golden State Warriors for more than a decade now after having come into his position in 2012.
Although he hasn’t been on the court, Bob has worked tirelessly from behind the shadows to ensure that the Warriors have remained competitive in his tenure. There is no denying that his moves have been a success. After all, many regard the GSW dynasty as one of the greatest teams of all time.
The dynasty that Myers played a role in creating began with a small move or trade at the time. With that being said, let us take a look at some of the best moves or transactions made by Bob Myers during his time as the GM of the Golden State Warriors.
What were the best moves Bob Myers made for the Golden State Warriors?
Although it would be difficult to decide which moves Myers made were the best, one way of gauging his abilities is to analyze which of his trades or signings brought on the most success for the Warriors. It is also important to mention that we are not looking at his success in the NBA Draft. After all, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green were all drafted by the Warriors.

Coming back to trade moves and decisions, there is no denying that the trade for NBA superstar Kevin Durant is one of the highlights of Myers’ career as a GM. Since the addition of Durant helped the Warriors win two more titles while holding onto the position as the best team in the league, we have to agree that this was Myers’ best move.
Another underrated move that he made many years ago also deserves acknowledgment, Myers facilitated the trade for Andre Iguodala from the Denver Nuggets to the Golden State Warriors. This move resulted in GSW winning its first recent title in 2015. Since Iggy played stellar defense on LeBron and even won the NBA Finals MVP, the decision to bring him on board was clearly a good one.
If we have to look at another move Myers made, it would be the more recent trade for Andrew Wiggins. When GSW managed to acquire D’Angelo Russell, he was soon shipped to Minnesota in return for Wiggins, who played a pivotal role in the Warriors’ 2022 championship run. Yet another good decision by Myers.
While there has certainly been a fair share of questionable moves in his time as GM, Myers has still gotten the job done and orchestrated competitive rosters over his career. Nonetheless, the boarding of KD, Iggy, and Wiggins are the best moves he made.
