NBA Trade: Here Are Some Possible Trade Options for Jimmy Butler

Jimmy Trade

Jimmy Butler went from having an unforgettable playoff run to one he wishes never happened. Getting swept is embarrassing enough but getting swept in the first round, very embarrassing. When a team loses so badly rumors of trade destinations pop up. Here are 4 trade destinations that I think will fit Jimmy Butler using ESPN’s trade machine.

Jimmy Butler and Dame D.O.L.L.A

Jimmy Butler vs. Blazers

Potential Trade:

Miami receive: CJ McCollum, Nassir Little.

Portland receive: Jimmy Butler.

Jimmy Butler and Damian Lillard both had a tough first round in these playoffs. CJ and Dame being undersized guards make them both defensive liabilities. However Jimmy starting in that guard role will massively help on the defensive end. Jimmy struggled in these playoffs scoring only an average of 14.5 points in the 4 games. Damian Lillard can pick up the slack in the scoring department for Jimmy.

For Miami, they get young forward Nassir Little who fits the timeline of Tyler Herro. Also, CJ will give that much needed scoring to keep them in playoff contention with their defensive pieces to make up for his size.

Big 3 in LA?

Jimmy Butler and Kawhi Leonard

Potential Trade:

Miami Heat receive: Marcus Morris Sr. , Patrick Beverly, Patrick Patterson, Daniel Oturu.

Los Angeles Clippers receive: Jimmy Butler

This trade seem extremely one sided but hear me out. Miami can trade Marcus Morris Sr., Patrick Beverly and Patrick Patterson before the trade deadline to get either Draft Capital or young players. This will also get a lot of money off the books for Miami and they can get a major signing in free agency.

For the Clippers, they have looked really bad against a Dallas Team with just one superstar. If they want to win the NBA Finals against teams like the Brooklyn Nets, they need more star power. Defensively, PG, Jimmy and Kawhi would make it really difficult for players to score. The Clippers also get a leader who is very Vocal and will let Kawhi just be himself.

Jimmy Butler back to Chicago

Potential Trade:

Miami Heat receive: Coby White, Lauri Markkanen, Al-Farouq Aminu, Felicio.

Bulls receive: Jimmy Butler

If Chicago want to go all in for next season their boy Jimmy will get them there. Jimmy will get to be with so many elite scorers around him. Zach Lavine, Vucevic and Jimmy will form a formidable big 3 and if they sign some defenders in the offseason they could be a top 4 seed in the East easily.

For Miami they get a young player with a lot of upside in Coby White. Lauri had a promising start but has struggled in recent years. He is still young and can improve into a player like All-Star level Porzingis. They will also get rid of a lot of salary with Felicio’s expiring contract.

Jimmy the 3rd Splash Brother?

Stephen Curry with Jimmy Butler

Potential Trade

Miami Receive: Andrew Wiggins, Kelly Oubre Jr.

Warriors receive: Jimmy Butler, KZ Okpala

Andrew Wiggin has definitely not lived up to his hype. He’s 26 and this is his prime years. He averaged 18 last season with Kelly averaging 15. The Warriors will get Klay back next season and if they want to go back to the glory days getting Jimmy might help them. Jimmy and Draymond will hold down the defense while Curry and Klay carry the offence. This will make them a formidable force to even the Brooklyn Nets.

All these trades are only potentials and depend on a lot of other factors. Like if Jimmy personally requests a trade. There are also rumors that he is looking for a 4 year, 181 million $ max extension. If Miami are not comfortable in giving him that money then they will start looking for trades.
